Checking BDC is working or not?

Dear Expertise

I have created a module pool  . I have created a button which is calling BDC  and then will display the values to smartform.

I need to check whether my BDC is working fine or not.

After executing the module pool screen, I fill the selection screen details, then i need to know whether BDC values will automatically flow or i have to manually enter to create Customer.

Can anyone help in this scenario and elaborate?
